Berberis vulgaris

This is probably an introduction (Stace 3rd Ed says it is an Archeophyte) which you can find in hedgerows all over the British Isles. There are various sub-species and this one which had pendant racemes of yellow flowers is usually identified as B. vulgaris. I wouldn't bet lots on that though.
