Banksia marginata   Silver Banksia

Banksia marginata whole Banksia marginata

This very variable Banksia flowers from mid winter to early Spring which explains why there were as many dead blooms as new ones on the trees we saw. There seemed to be an abundance of this species along the east coast of Tasmania and this site had many healthy looking trees of various sizes. The common name seems to be Silver Banksia on the Australian mainland and Honeysuckle here in Tasmania.
