Banksia grandis Bull Banksia Endemic
Even from a distance this was a magnificent Banksia specimen towering over the nearby by bush block which was part of a small settlement near Bremer Bay. Each of the blooms which consist of many small florets was over over 30 cm. tall by my estimate. The usual distribution is from around Perth down the Swan Coastal plain and along the southern coast to near the Stirling Range so this plant was out of range suggesting that it was perhaps planted here many years ago.
