Arbutus canariensis Canary Islands Strawberry Tree Endemic
A. canariensis is an endemic species occurring on a a few of the Canary Islands including Tenerife. It was immediately obvious as an Arbutus species because of the rich brown bark typical of this genus. Although the tree was in full flower, unlike our British Isles Arbutus unedo, there were no fruits to be seen along with the flowers.
