Allium neapolitanum   Neapolitan Garlic I

Allium neopolitanum

This Mediterranean introduction is scattered around the British Isles but there was a healthy group of plants enjoying the spring sunshine when we visited Guernsey. In the warmth, the distinctive smell of garlic reminded me of walking through valleys where Allium ursinum (Ramsons) grows by the streams.

It is found naturalised in southern England and the Channel Islands but it is not found in Scotland or Ireland with one site only in Wales.
