Aethionema membranaceum Membranous-podded Stonecress
Dogubeyazit is a town in Eastern Türkiye and we saw plenty of superb species by the road on the way there. This one is a particular favourite of rock gardeners and alpine specialists. This particular species is often confused with Persian Stonecress (Aethionema grandiflorum) and although the plant above does look very like Aethionema grandiflorum, our plants were identified by a Turkish field botanist of some repute.
Aethionema membranaceum is found in Eastern Türkiye, Iraq , Iran and some of the trans Caucasus countries.
