Aegithalos caudatus   Long-tailed Tit

Aegitalos caudatus back Aegitalos caudatus

This beautiful and graceful little bird can be heard all year round but is hard to see in the summer when groups of them flit quickly between the trees and bushes. This is known to be their habit - they defend their territory against other groups of Long-tailed Tits. They are insectivorous birds when they can be but in winter when food is scarce we see them best on the feeders as above. Often there will be three or more birds on one feeder.
