This is a quite a large plant with attractive blooms that would grace any garden. The large leaves are covered with a whitish bloom (hence leucophylla?).

It is found in the Alps where it can be a pioneer species of re-vegetation after a glacier, such as the one here at Morteratsch, has melted and shrunk up the valley. The degree to which this glacier had receded is made all the more remarkable by sign posts showing where it was at different times of the 21st and 20th century.
