Vicia sylvatica Wood Vetch C DD N
This one of the most attractive of the vetches with pencilled veins on the standard of the petals. It could be confused with Vicia orobus (Wood Bitter-vetch) but Vicia sylvatica has tendrils at the ends of the leaves while Vicia orobus has just a point.
It is distributed throughout the mainland of Britain with special concentration around the River Severn area but is not often found in Ireland except on the north east coast region.
