This is a smallish plant growing to about 30/40cm maximum with a short flowering period. It is usually an upright plant so sometimes manages to keep its small, pinkish flower heads above the surrounding grasses. It is quite common in England and Wales but has a slight preference for coastal sites. It is an uncommon plant in Scotland and Ireland.
