Stylidium schoenoides wholeStylidium schoenoides close

This is one of the larger triggerplants although they are all rather small. It can be white, cream or distinctly pale yellow and is a perennial species according to Florabase. All Triggerplants hit the alighting insect with the modified fifth leaf (the trigger) and Stylidium schoenoides is reputed to have one of the more powerful "kicks"

Stylidium schoenoides is found along the coastal plain from north of Perth round to Albany on the south coast, along to Esperance and this plant will grow both in the shade of the Forests and on the sandy plains so is not uncommon in south west Australia.
