Senecio viscosus   Sticky Groundsel CC DD N

Senecio viscosus whole Senecio viscosus close

This is a plant which you identify by touch. It can be reasonably tall (up to 0.6 m) or short and looks like a greyish groundsel species but the plant is unmistakably extremely sticky to touch.

Senecio viscosus is very common in England, Wales and southern Scotland but is scarce in the far north. In Ireland it is common only around the Belfast area of northern Ireland and dotted sparsely elsewhere.
