Scleranthus annuus Annual Knawel C DD N
This prostrate annual with very small green flowers is easily missed particularly if it grows in other green vegetation. Often though it is found on poor gravelly or sandy soils where it can quickly be seen to be different from other similar plants. It is the subject of one of the species accounts on the BSBI web site.
Scleranthus annuus has been recorded from all over the British Isles even north of Inverness. It is commonest in the south east of England but rare in Ireland.
