Potamogeton pusillus Lesser Pondweed C DD N
This pondweed is sometimes confused with another which also has linear leaves: P. berchtoldlii (Small Pondweed) and so we needed our Wild Flower Society expert to identify it to be sure. The characters are very similar and need familiarity (which I don't possess) to distinguish them.
Potamogeton pusillus is found throughout the British Isles with slightly less frequency than P. berchtoldii but is rare in northern Scotland and southern Ireland.
