Potamogeton perfoliatus Perfoliate Pondweed CC DD N
This plant is to be found in all parts of the British Isles but being a partially translucent brown/greenish pondweed which is always submerged it is beautifully camouflaged and therefore bound to be overlooked. This specimen was found by a WFS party exploring the Wye at one of the few places on the walk where access to the water was possible without falling in.
While not as common as many natives Potamogeton perfoliatus is found throughout the British Isles and Ireland including many of the outer Isles.
