Polygala alata
To those of us in Britain familar with Polygala species as delightful but small flowers nestling in the grass, this plant comes as a surprise. The unusual flower structure typical of members of the Polygonaceae family is obvious but the plant is erect and from 10 cm to 20 cm in height. It is more commonly known by gardeners as Polygala major var alata.
