Phacelia tanacetifolia Phacelia I
Driving back to our holiday accommodation we decided to stop at a lay by for a break. This was on a country lane in the middle of the Isle of Wight. Looking out of the car window I was amazed to see a verge full of blue flowers which I vaguely recognised. I had grown this plant from seed a decade or so ago but couldn't remember its name.
Phacelia is an uncommon garden escape or crop seed contaminant which is found mostly in the south of England. Here there was plenty of it and a little further along the same lane more of the same plant.
