Petrophile species are native and endemic
to Australia and most are endemic to western Australia where
the majority of species are to be found. This one is mostly
found in the far south west corner of the wheatbelt above
Albany. Petrophile species
are pollinated by insects but a few by small marsupial animals.
As with many of the Proteaceae family this plant has
strange and wonderful flowers and quite spectacular spiked
glaucous leaves making this an ideal plant to start the year
2011.
