Although it is not uncommon in in the west of Crete around Xhania, this is an endemic plant which has edible leaves (petro = it grows out rocks, marula = lettuce or salad, pinnata pinnately lobed leaves leaves). P. pinnata is grown in rock gardens and can be found for sales in nurseries and garden centre in temperate climates. It is a relative of the Bellflowers (Campanulaceae).
