Periparus ater   Coal Tit

Periparus ater Coal Tit

Periparus ater (Coal Tit) is a small Passerine bird (Family: Paridae) and the one usually seen in the British Isles is Periparus ater ssp britannicus. The quoted characteristic of our sub species is a slight olive green hue on the back (I couldn't detect it). It is often found in temperate conifer forests in the wild but has adapted well to human habitats so is a frequent garden visitor easily seen in winter.
