Pedicularis atropurpurea
This is a species of Lousewort but very different from the two much smaller plants, Pedicularis sylvatica (Lousewort) and Pedicularis palustris (Marsh Lousewort) which are the only two Louseworts native to the British Isles. Pedicularis atropurpurea is one of many Lousewort species to be found in the Caucasus but not many are 4 to 5 feet tall like this one was.
It is found in subalpine regions of north Eastern Turkey and the Caucasus mountains.
