Pardalotus punctatus (Spotted Pardalote) is a very small Passerine bird which typically lives in the scrub under Eucalyptus trees. It darts in and out of the dried vegetation in the understory and is almost perfectly camouflaged. I detected the movement and the calls of this bird for quite a while before I managed to see it against the dried vegetation background. It is an insectivorous bird and will feed on sap sucking insects and their sugary exudates.

It nests in hollows or tunnels in the wood and this one seemed to be collecting material for a nest. It can be seen in urban areas and has nested in our buildings.
