Moraea flaccida   Two-leaf Cape Tulip

Moraea flaccida whole

M. flaccida is an alien species from Cape Province in South Africa which, like many other species from that part of the world adapted easily to the western Australian climate. It was introduced as a garden plant at the beginning of the 19th century and has now spread along the coast form Perth southwards and inland into the wheatbelt as well. Although they tend to avoid eating it, M. flaccida plants and corms can be poisonous to stock and so in western Australia and in the United States it is regarded as a noxious weed.
