Lupinus arboreus Tree Lupin DD I
I have found this naturalised garden escape in a few places, always on sandy soils and usually by the sea. According to Stace this plant isn't very hardy and is killed by frosts, so populations fluctuate.
Lupinus arboreus can be found inland but the majority of records are from seaside sites including the Channel islands. It is common round the coasts of England, Wales and southern Scotland and although there are fewer records in the far north, there is a significant population near Inverness. In Ireland it is found mostly in the east.
