This was an incidental find as we trekked through some woods on the way to see Colchicum autumnale (Meadow Saffron). Mostly found on oak trees, it is an edible mushroom which behaves like chicken meat when cooked having a white and flaky texture. It is recommended as suitable for vegetarians who like their food to look like meat even when it isn't.
