Hypochaeris maculata Spotted Cat's-ear RR DD N
The flower looks very much like common Cat's-ear but larger and more erect. The shiny leaves with their dark spots are what makes it "maculata" and this can't be missed. They are also a different shape from H. radicata. Although the Great Orme is one of its well known habitats there aren't very many of these to be seen.
This is a very scarce species being found in a very few places mostly in southern England. The Great Orme is the only known and Wales and there is only one site in Scotland. It is absent from Ireland.
