Helleborus viridis ssp occidentalis Green Hellebore C DD N
This is another very early flowering plant but does flower in early Spring rather than late winter like H. foetidus (Stinking Hellebore) . The flowers always seem to "nod" and face down so a photo must be taken with camera on the ground.
H. viridis is common in England and south and central Wales with a few sites in the north where this one was found. There are sites known from southern Scotland but records are unknown from the far north. It is also known from quite a few sites in northern Ireland.
