Haematopus ostralegus   Oystercatcher

Haematopus ostralegus Haematopus ostralegus side

Oystercatchers are so named because it was thought they fed on Oysters. In fact they feed on a variety of molluscs such as Cockles and Limpets or even crabs and fish when at the coast but change to earthworms and insect larvae when living inland.
