Gompholobium villosum Endemic
In spite of the wet weather we could see that this was a beautiful pea plant (Fabaceae) with plenty of purple flowers. It is quite a large shrub and is found mostly between Albany and the Stirling Range National Park with a few outposts near Margaret River and in the east at Esperance.
At first glance it looks quite similar to Gompholobium scabrum which is also found in similar areas of South West Australia. The calyx here is coverred in dense simple hairs which probably gave it the species name villosum (Latin = shaggy) while the Gompholobium scrabrum calyx is glabrous (bald)
