Geum macrophyllum Large-leaved Avens C DD I
I was very puzzled by this plant as it obviously was a Geum but much larger than woodland Geum species I'd seen before. The leaves seemed very large and when I looked it up the vernacular name Large-leaved Avens seemed to fit this plant perfectly.
It is an introduction which originates from north east Asia or possibly North America. There are very few sites in England, none in Ireland and the greatest frequency of records is in Cardiganshire in Wales and in northern Scotland around the Inverness area where this one was found.
