Festuca ovina

This is a small common grass throughout the British Isles but there are several very similar looking subspecies. A tufted plant with thin leaves it is common on acid soils and in upland areas particularly. It is however very tolerant of a wide range of soil pH and will grow on very alkaline soils. It isn't isn't usually used as a lawn grass but in very dry conditions can be useful.

F. ovina is found throughout the British Isles and Ireland.
