Euphorbia segetalis   Grainfield Spurge

Euphorbia segetalis

There was quite a bit of this spurge growing in the grass of an old orchard. It stands out above the grasses and has narrow leaves and diamond shaped bracts. There is no common name in Europe but Grain Field Spurge is widely used in the United States while in Australia where it is an established alien it is known as Short-stemmed Carnation Weed (Don't ask).
