Erica ciliaris Dorset Heath RRR DD N
At this site the E. ciliaris is not uncommon although to see it at its best it would probably be best to go in August as many of the blooms were brown and faded. It is a more striking pink than Erica tetralix with which it grows and with which it hybridises. It has glandular hairs which can be just about seen in the close-up photograph.
Apart from a couple of sites in Ireland this species is restricted to Dorset, Devon and Cornwall in southern England. It does not grow in Wales or Scotland.
