Elythranthera emarginata Pink Enamel Orchid Endemic
Like many of the orchids in this part of the world this plant is quite small and could easily be overlooked. The beautiful shiny colouring of the inside of the petals is quite different from the outside which is a characteristic of this genus of three species (E. brunonis and E. emarginata plus the hybrid: E. x intermedia ). It has hairs on the stem and one leaf - also a typical feature of many Western Australian orchids. This plant was identified for us by an orchid expert in the area but the colour in these photos doesn't look too much differnet from E. brunonis.
Elythranthera emarginata is found throughout the south west corner of Western Australia from Perth down to Albany and the Stirling Range both near the coast and inland.
