Eleogiton fluitans Floating Club-rush C DD N
Previously known as Scirpus fluitans, this plant is found both floating on ponds and lakes as well as lurking on the mud at the edges. Without flowers it can look like lush green grass but here the flowering spikes can clearly be seen.
It is foundmore in the west than the east with Wales, Cornwall and the north west of Scotland being favourite haunts. It is not common in central and southern England but is found frequently in the west of Ireland.
