Echium angustifolium Hispid Viper's-bugloss
Not only was this quite a common plant on Rhodes but it sometimes occupied such an area as to present a barrier to walking progress. Also known as Narrow-leaved Bugloss, the narrow undulate leaves and the grey bristly appearance of this perennial plant are typical. Like other Echium species the flowers can change colour from blue or purplish to red as they get older. It grows in the east of the Mediterranean and in Israel.
