Our Naturetrek leaders invited us to go carefully down a steep slope, over rocks and branches and into a dark wooded area. This had to be taken on trust as nothing could be seen from even a few yards away but once inside the wood the thousands and thousands of Cyclamen repandum were an amazing sight. The wood in which they grew excluded most of the light so even in the middle of the day only flash photos could be recorded with certainty. According to some floras Cyclamen repandum doesn't grow in southern Italy so perhaps this plant is on the edge of its range.
