Cerastium x symei Hybrid Mouse-ear C? DD N
This plant occurs at about 3,000 feet and is a hybrid between the Alpine Mouse-ear (Cerastium alpinum) and Common Mouse-ear (Cerastium fontanum). It has a combination of characters and grows near C. alpinum although I haven't seen any obvious C. fontanum nearby. It is sterile so doesn't spread and my guess is that it should be classified as rarer than C. alpinum which is Rare.
It is known, with no recent records, from only a few sites in the central highland of Scotland.
