Cerastium pumilum   Dwarf Mouse-ear RR DD N

Cerastium pumilum whole Cerastium pumilum whole

This little mouse-ear has normal and glandular hairs which you can just about see, scarious tips to the bracts but the obvious and different feature is the reddish stems. C. diffusum and C. semidecandrum are of a similar size so you need to get out the keys to differentiate them although C pumilum is scarce.

C. pumilum is found in many places most often around the Bristol and Gloucester area of the severn estuary. It is found in Wales along the north coast but not at all in Scotland or Ireland.
