Cacatua roseicapilla Galah
Australian birds are less timid than British or European and so you can often get quite close to them. This was shot with a totally unsuitable 60mm macro lens which I use for taking plant photos.
The Galah is also known as the rose-breasted cockatoo, galah cockatoo, roseate cockatoo or pink and grey this is one of the commonest cockatoos to be found in Australia. It is found in every state having been introduced to Tasmania. In Australia to call someone a "Galah" is to suggest their stupdity. The Galah however is quite an intelligent bird so perhaps they have a similar derogatory word for humans - Hogan??
