Boronia juncea ssp minima Endemic

THis was quite strange looking plant in that the flowers had only four petals indicating perhaps Boronia but to a U. K. botanist, it looked like a mini Flowering Rush (Butomus umbellatus) but this has five petals. It was the small size of the flowers and rush-like overall structure which fooled me. But a quick scroll through Florabase revealed a Boronia juncea where juncea tends to mean "Rush-like" and among the sub species was subsp minima which has very small flowers. Photos very similar to mine were found on iNaturalist helping to confirm the identity.

Boronia juncea ssp minima is found only in a few places. First south of Bunbury down to Augusta, then along the south coast with a few records south of Northcliffe and some outliers east of Albany.
