Borago officinalis   Borage I

Boargo officinalis

This is an introduced plant often grown in country gardens. It produces plenty of flowers and seeds which seem to have 100% germination rates. Once you've grown this plant in your garden the seedlings pop up for years afterwards. Normally I would expect to see this in flower in summer as it is an annual but here, in the shelter of a sea wall, it flowered in early spring.

Borago officinalis has escaped to sites throughout the British Isles with a heavy concentration of records in England and Wales. Records are far fewer in Ireland and Scotland.
