Beta vulgaris ssp maritima   Sea Beet C DD N

Beta vulgaris ssp maritima whole Beta vulgaris ssp maritima close Beta vulgaris ssp maritima branch

A plant of the seafront whether marshes, dunes, shingle or sands, it always looks healthy with its glossy leaves. The flowers are easily missed being small and yellowy green in a spike.

It is found all round the coasts of England, Wales and most of Ireland but there is much less in Scotland except in the far west.
