Atriplex patula   Common Orache CC DD N

Atriplex patula

Atriplex patula grows inland on waste ground and roadsides but very commonly at the coast where the related Atriplex laciniata (Frosted Orache) can be found. This is a very variable plant and can be quite tall or sprawling near the ground as this one was. The leaf shape varies quite a lot too.

This is a very common plant and apart from north western and the high mountainous parts of Scotland it is found everywhere in the British Isles and Ireland.
