Athrotaxis selaginoides   King Billy Pine Tasmanian Endemic

Athrotaxis selaginoides Athrotaxis selaginoides close

This is a coniferous tree (not a pine) of the temperate Tasmanian rain forests where it will tolerate cool conditions including winter snow. It yields a durable, scented wood but is rapidly becoming a scarce species (and therefore protected) as forestry and bush fires have taken their toll.
