Asplenium scolopendrium Hart's-tongue Fern CCC DD N
This bright green fern can be found in damp places like many ferns and in woods alongside woodland plants. It tends to form clumps like this one and the spores are formed in lines which you can see on the reverse of the frond. It is unusual in having undivided (entire) leaves but which make it easy to recognise.
A. scolopendrium is found throughout England, Wales, Ireland and southern Scotlnad but is uncommon in northern Scotland.
The name has recently changed (New Flora of the British Isles Third Edition by Clive Stace 2010) from Phyllitis scolopendrium to Asplenium scolopendrium.
