Alchemilla mollis

Alchemilla mollis is one of several successful garden escapes which are now appearing almost everywhere in the countryside of mainland Britain. The one in the photo had been well established some way from habitation. The success of this garden plant in naturalising itself can be quite surprising. A meeting of the Wild Flower Society noted it was the commonest weed plant around the docks area at Lochinver in the far north west of Scotland for instance.

Although it has spread throughout England Scotland and Wales A. mollis has made little impact in Ireland.
