Acacia stereophylla
Set against the blue sky, this Acacia species with cylindrical flowers was quite a spectacular plant but too tall for me to get close to the flowers. It is similar to Acacia neurophylla which also grows in this region but the veins in the leaves are fine with none standing out. There are two sub species ssp stereophylla and ssp cylindrica. I think this is ssp stereophylla.
Acacia stereophylla grows fairly near the coast in the northern edge of its range near Geraldton and then inland along the northern wheat belt down to about Perth but well inland.
