The magenta flower in the bottom left is Geranium sanguineum (Bloody Cranesbill) which is a common companion of the yellow Common Rock-rose on the Great Orme where both flourish. H. nummularium does like basic soils though, so we never see any of it here on the acid sandstone of Cheshire. As well as providing a welcome splash of good-sized yellow flowers in mid-spring, this plant keeps flowering as long as the frosts are absent. I have found it in flower on March 1st for the WFS first hunt and never failed to see it in flowering on the last day in October for the Last Week Hunt.
