Cheshire field in Spring
The county of Cheshire in England used to be known for dairy produce but over the years that has diminished almost to zero as disease such as foot and mouth hit farmers and the profits from such businesses have become smaller and smaller. Now many of the fields are ploughed and sown with potatoes. There's an unofficial competition amongst the local farmers to see who can bring out the earliest of the new potatoes but they are always worth waiting for. New Cheshire potatoes harvested in the morning and eaten in the evening served hot with a knob of melting butter - simply delicious.
